The Secure Act of 2019 expanded the use of 529 College Savings Plans at the federal level by allowing withdrawals for Apprenticeship Programs.
From our understanding not every 529 provider will allow you to use your funds towards apprenticeship programs, but most will. The best way to find out if your 529 provider will allow withdrawals for apprenticeship programs is to give them a call directly and simply state that you would like to use your funds towards your electrical apprenticeship program IEC Southern Colorado and see what they have to say.
If they allow the use of funds for apprenticeship programs, you'll need to make a withdrawal with the account holder. We can accept a check directly from your 529 provider or from you directly.
Since IEC is an Apprenticeship Program, we do not have a federal code, and one should not be needed to receive funds from your plan. IEC does not need to provide any proof that you are currently attending or the cost of books and tuition.
