IEC Southern Colorado's Fast Track Program provides the 288 hours of classroom training required by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) to qualify an applicant to take the Journeyman examination for licensure.
This program is only available to electrical apprentices with 6000+ on the job hours, and takes approximately 10 months to complete. Classes are held online two nights a week (M&TH, 5:30-9:30p), and cover condensed electrical training curriculum to include theory, calculations, grounding and bonding, and codebook navigation. There are two four-hour practice exams to help students prepare to take their Journeyworker Exam.
Senate Bill 20-120, which took effect on September 14, 2020, requires electrical apprentices to take a license examination if they have been registered for at least six years with the State Electrical Board.
Beginning January 1, 2021, qualifying electrical apprentices must take the exam every three years until they pass.
